Google  Ads and Microsoft Ads explained

Google Ads is the primary advertising network for the Google search engine. Through it you can get ads up and running on Google search, YouTube and sites that run Google Adsense Ads. Traffic on Adsense Ads is more likely to be from cold traffic.

Microsoft Ads is the primary advertising network for The Bing search engine. Through it you can run ads mostly on the Bing search engine as well as any ad network with runs Bing Ads (like Adsense, but on Bing).

Both networks carry a ton of opportunity for affiliates and online businesses as they have tons of traffic visit them each and everyday. Making ads on both networks is pretty easy too.

Why using a paid Ads instead of organic traffic. The reason is because is very difficult to rank on the first position with certain competitive keywords by using Organic traffic only.

When you ask for some information on a specific keyword on Google. You can have only one finding on Google but six on Bing. What is the reason behind this? It could because the price of the Ad is more on Google for that specific keyword than it is on Bing. The is more traffic to the Ad put on the Google network than the Bing network.

To make good Ads on either Google or Bing needs practice to become good at it.

When Google Ads is better to use than Microsoft Ads?

  1. Google as a whole gets several times more visitors than Bing does and therefore you can usually expect to get more clicks on the ads you run. From a click number perspective, Google wins nearly single time.

Since most people use the Google search engine way more than Bing, proportionally you will usually get more clicks if you run your ads there.

  1. The tools in Google ads are typically easier to use than Microsoft Ads. It is easier to setting up tracking and running everything on Google Ads vs Microsoft Ads because it is more beginner friendly. To set up the tracker code with Bing is much more complicated.
  2. Product review keywords will typically yield way more clicks.

When Microsoft Ads is better to use than Google Ads?

  1. You will usually spend way less money on the same keywords through Bing Ads than Google Ads.

For example: How to loose belly fat: You would pay $2 or more per click on Google Ads but on Bing, it would cost you only $0.50

  1. For general keywords (like: make money online, MLM, how to build an online business, etc…) you would spend far less on Bing Ads than Google, and thereby save more money. In fact if you are tight on money and want to bid on typically competitive keywords, Bing Ads is a clear winner in most cases.
  2. Certain popular products that cost a lot to advertise on Google Ads will cost several times less typically on Bing Ads. There are much less advertisers on Bing Ads than Google, so that is why the PPC is more affordable on Bing. On Google, sellers are willing to pay much more to get ranked on the first position on Google search.
  3. Bing Ads is typically far more permissive on keywords you can bid compared to Google Ads. On Google Ads , many keywords can be typically limited or restricted. In that sense, Bing Ads are easier to use than Google Ads.

Situations in which you will want to use both networks:

  1. Feeler ad campaigns: Let’s say you are doing a first time product review. You would be better off sending both Bing Ads and Google Ads traffic to it and then through tracking seeing which one gets you more clicks, conversions and costs less and then decide if you want to remove ads from one network , keep the other or remove both. Use this type of campaign if you would like to test an affiliate marketing product like Wealthy Affiliate as an example. Read my review of the Wealthy Affiliate Platform here
  2. Generally speaking for any Google Ad campaign you make, you should always make a Bing Ad targeting the same keywords for potentially extra clicks/traffic/sales. You will use the same landing page for both Google Ad and Bing Ad to be able to compare the results. If you create 50 different product reviews on Google Ad, put them as well on Bing Ad to get more traffic exposure. If your budget is very limited, consider Bing Ads in the first place and do both Bing and Google ads when your budget will improve.

Advanced methods for utilizing both networks:

Make a PPC site in which you make 2 duplicates of the same landing pages. One will be used for Google Ads, and one will be used for Bing Ads. For example: I am reviewing Wealthy Affiliate, so I write a review on it for Google Ads and put affiliate links  for it that tell me when conversions come from Google Ads. Then, I will copy/paste the same exact review on another landing page, but this time put up Bing Ad Tracking on it so I will know when conversions come from Bing Ads. You can duplicate the same PPC Ad both for Google and Bing without any issues. But, it is not advise to put duplicate contents for SEO on a Blog Posts because you will not have good ranking for Google Organic traffic doing this.

Conclusions:

It is very common to see mixed results when creating an identical ad on both Google Ads and Bing Ads that targets the same keywords. You may get results like this:

  • Sometimes Google Ads will get you more traffic
  • Sometimes Bing Ads will get more clicks(if the cost on Google is too high)
  • Sometimes Google Ads will convert better
  • Sometimes Bing Ads will convert better

The key is Testing. By setting up a PPC site and making duplicates for ads you run for Google and from Bing Ads to each respective landing page. Doing so, you can quickly determine which network is better to use, but in the beginning use both. Both networks are excellent to promote affiliate marketing, excellent for maybe selling online course, running Ads for E store or for another online business. Both are amazing to promote other kinds of products online, Wealthy Affiliate or any affiliate marketing business.
